What are you going to watch this weekend? (May 27 edition)

Happy Thursday!

It’s time to ask the eternal question: What are you watching this weekend?

I had hoped to finally return to LA's Alamo Drafthouse this weekend. Now that the Arclight is closed (RIP!!!!), it's my favorite Los Angeles movie theater, and it's also within walking distance of my house. But alas! The Drafthouse is sold out through mid-June, so I'm not seeing anything there for a bit. (It's too bad, too. They're showing Singin' in the Rain!)

And yet if you asked me, "Emily, which 2020 movie are you most sad you didn't see in a theater?" I just might answer Tenet. Christopher Nolan's incredibly silly ode to bros and temporal pincer movements is not the best movie of 2020, but it's got a whole vibe I was really into. So when my friend asked if I would go with her to an LA screening Friday night, I leapt at the chance. Who wouldn't want to see Robert Pattinson's superbly odd performance, Elizabeth Debicki's icy chill, and whatever Kenneth Branagh was doing on an enormous screen? Certainly not anyone I would want to know!

So tell me what you’re going to check out over the next few days! Post a comment or reply to this email!
