Hello, loyal Episodes readers! Happy summer, and happy Pride!

Episodes is proud to be a queer-owned and -operated publication, and for the last few years, we've run a sale at the end of June to celebrate that. Until the end of the month, you can take 20 percent off an annual premium subscription to Episodes using this link:

To give you a taste of the work we've been doing around here, all pieces on Episodes this week will be free to everyone. You'll get to read a Monday Rundown, a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms recap, an edition of 26 Episodes on Community, and a premium Friday newsletter — all pieces that would usually be behind a paywall. We think you'll like what you see!

If you're a long-time free subscriber, you might notice that that's a busier schedule than Episodes used to have. We relaunched the newsletter at the start of January with a new and improved publication schedule and programming calendar. We're now publishing (at least) four times a week, with premium newsletters every single Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday on pop culture old and new. If you subscribe to Episodes this Pride, you'll get something like 1.75x as many newsletters as last year. That's on top of ongoing premium subscriber benefits like the Episodes Discord server, archive access, and the ability to submit mailbag questions.

With that extra space, we've upped our coverage of just about everything, including essays on queer TV, film, games, and more. We've recapped MLM romance phenom Heated Rivalry and artsy sci-fi lesbian drama Pluribus, published inventories and personal essays on books that speak to us as queer people, and featured critical writing on how the metaphors of early transition spaces explain our political quagmire. Plus, after more than a calendar year, famous bisexual Emily Rogers made her grand return to Episodes!

And we have more in store: In the near future, we're hoping to be able to return to publishing freelance pieces from outside contributors, especially up-and-coming queer essayists and critics. It is going to take a little more support to get us across the finish line for that goal (to mix our sports metaphors a bit) — upgrading your subscription will go a long way towards getting us there.

Happy Pride, and thank you so much for reading Episodes!
