What are you going to watch this weekend? (July 22nd edition)

Happy Thursday!

It’s time to ask the eternal question: What are you watching this weekend?

I run hot and cold on M. Night Shyamalan. When I like him, I really, really like him. When I don't, I really, really don't. I legitimately think The Village is a masterpiece. I think the Split/Glass duology is a horrible, exploitative look at a real mental condition that lots of people deal with. I get that Shyamalan is sensationalizing it for a popcorn horror movie, and that's fine. He just doesn't do anything new with the sensationalism. Oh, also, The Last Airbender is one of the worst films I've ever seen.

That said, I'm ridiculously excited for his new movie Old precisely because it looks so ridiculous. The concept of this movie is "There's a beach where people get old." This has been greeted with hoots of derision from many I respect, but there is a beach where people get old. How do you not want to see that movie?

They get old!

So tell me what you’re going to check out over the next few days! Post a comment or reply to this email!
